I’m now officially 25w3d and just about ready to head into the third trimester. I haven’t done an “official” update in a while so thought I would do so today!
I finally had some success finding maternity clothes at a consignment shop. I stopped by one on a whim to look at baby clothes and found several nice items for me instead! (That’s a nice switch!) I was able to purchase a long, dark khaki jumper, a nice dress, and a cute two-piece top and pants. I especially like the two-piece outfit. It is a sage green, ribbed material and very comfortable, yet looks very nice. I’m definitely more of a dress/skirt/dress pants kind of gal so wearing shorts and jeans day after day really isn’t my thing. One thing that I bought (new) early on is light khaki overall shorts. David reallly wanted me to get some because a friend had some a few years back when she was pregnant and David thought they really were cute. So I finally am large enough to wear them and I have to say they are really comfortable!
I picked up the book Baby Bargains that a few of you recommended to me. I’m in the process of going through that and finishing up our registering. The book is very helpful! I have to admit that I’m really looking forward to the fall clothes showing up in the stores. I’ve seen so many cute summer baby clothes but they are of course useless to us. I can’t wait to see all the cute fall and winter things that Peanut can actually wear. I’m especially looking forward to buying Little Miss Peanut her first PLAID outfit, preferably Black Watch!
I still haven’t received my bedding! Apparently the company that I ordered from moved their warehouse during the past few weeks, got a new phone system, etc. and they are really behind. (Of course, they don’t tell you this when you order or try to contact them.) I tried emailing, calling, doing voice mail, etc. and could not get a response or even a live person over the past two weeks. I finally sent them an email saying I needed an answer in 24 hours about my order or I was going to write about my experience with their terrible customer service on my blog. What do you know? I had both an email and a phone call within an hour! My order has shipped now and should arrive in a few days. The company (who shall remain nameless) has very good feedback on Yahoo Shopping so I was surprised that I had so many problems. The real topper to all this would be if I finally get it and don’t like it. 🙂
Last week I got my first comment about being pregnant from a random stranger so I apparently have officially entered the phase where I really look pregnant and not just like I’ve been eating too many Pringles. I’ve had a few more comments since then so I must really look pregnant. And I do. When I was at Meijer the other day, I had on the previously mentioned maternity jumper. I walked past a large glass window and saw my reflection. Yup! I’m definitely with child!
And speaking of Pringles… I haven’t had too many cravings to speak of, but lately it has been Pringles and M&M’s.
I had mentioned before that my leg was bothering me and I was concerned it had to do with my back. I am VERY HAPPY to report that within a few days the discomfort was completely gone and hasn’t come back! I am so thankful!
People keep asking us if we’ve picked out a name yet, and the answer is… no. We’ve had a front-runner for a long time. There is another name we like, especially the meaning of it, but it is more common and I’ve already expressed here my strong disinclination to do a popular name. We’ve decided we aren’t going to try to decide on a name until she is born and we get a look at her. We keep tossing around ideas, but nothing is even close to being set in stone yet.
And speaking of looking at her… We seriously considered doing one of those 3D/4D ultrasounds this month. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that I don’t want to see her face until she is really here. It would be very cool to see her in the womb, but there was something about seeing her face before she was born that just didn’t appeal to me. I’m not even sure I can explain it. But we decided we would just wait the extra ten weeks or so to get a glimpse of her.
So that’s the current situation around here. I’m focusing on keeping cool and taking advantage of having some extra energy before I start to enter the anticipated third trimester drain. I am taking a nap for about an hour most afternoons and that really seems to help. It’s nice to have an excuse to lay down and rest!
Have a great day!

Hi Sallie,
We always wait until the babe arrives to name it. With the first one I thought I knew for sure (still wanting to see him first), and he just didn’t look like my first choice at all. Of course, I named him Malachi because his dark hair made him look like a Malachi, and now his hair is golden…but still, I would suggest waiting.
It took us three days to name our last one (the third!), and we had been praying through the whole pregnancy that we could find a name that we both really liked. We chose Ezra after much name throwing out. It means Helper, and he really *is* a helper- even at 16 months I can tell! He’ll see the bathroom trash full and go dump it in the kitchen trash. He loves to help cook and put the dishes away…
So all that to say that I see God’s hand in the naming, and it feels so special!
Sallie, I am so glad your back pain went away! PTL! ((HUG))
We’re getting a 3D/4D/whatever ultrasound in the 19th or 20th week; my OB/GYN sends all her patients to a specialist to get that ultrasound. Ryan is super-excited about it. 🙂
What a delightful time for you and exciting. Full of anticipation and joy.
I was recently enjoying a copy of Southern Baby and seeing all those pretty baby things made me remember my own joy in preparing for our wee ones so long ago. This third trimester was when I was so busy knitting and crochetting tiny outfits.
