There are so many numbers being thrown around. A billion here. A trillion there. It is hard to even fathom what is being talked about. This short little video will put it into to perspective.

WHY ARE WE NOT RIOTING IN THE STREETS AGAINST THIS MESS????
I am guessing because it is those of us, the so-called solid middle class that have to WORK and TAKE CARE of our families and can’t find time to riot!
I’m getting angrier by the day re: this crisis. I heard the other day someone refer to my generation with the new moniker “generation angry” and it is starting to feel fitting.
The reasons why? Off the top of my head…
People are in denial.
People are in shock.
People are uninformed.
People are paralyzed by fear.
People are afraid.
People don’t think it will make a difference.
The rioting will come. Look at Iceland. Rioting that led to an announced special election. Many people are predicting that Ireland or England will fall very soon. Some guy let it out of the bag the other day that England was THREE HOURS from total financial collapse back in October. Nothing much has improved since then so you do the math. 😯
I’ve gotta admit that I can’t even bring myself to watch this video right now. It’s too close to bedtime, and I’m afraid I’m not going to be able to sleep if I watch it.
I’m not turning a blind eye as I feel desperately alone. No one seems to think it’s polite to talk about “politics” and “religion” anymore in general. So the only people we have the chance to communicate with about these issues are the people who already care and share the same opinion.
The opposing side shutdown the communication lines by bullying people into submission with all the PC-ness and labelling. . . Kind of like Obama is attempting to do with Rush Limbaugh right now.

Believe me when I say I understand about not wanting to watch it. I debated whether or not to even put it on my blog. Someone recently said to me, “Your blog’s been kind of negative lately.” Well, yes, in some ways it has. And I struggle to find the balance. I find it therapeutic to discuss this stuff – to a point. Then I get to the point where I just want to disconnect from everything around me and ignore it all. That’s my personality. So I try to find the balance and probably don’t do it perfectly. But I try.
I agree. And whether people like Rush or not, the fact that the government is trying to silence him and other talk radio people should scare the heck out of people. Since when does the government decide who can talk on the radio? The Fairness Doctrine is coming and with it will be many unintended consequences including thousands of more job losses as radio stations go under when they lose their biggest programs.
Someone recently said to me, “Your blog’s been kind of negative lately.”
That was in 2009.
Note that discussing truth and the important events that were shaping our country’s literal destiny were seen as “kind of negative” to a reader.
Sixteen years ago.
Now we see why it’s taking so stupid long to get this done. People do not want to deal with reality until absolutely forced to do so.
And another thought… I know that people care about these topics even though they are negative. You know how I know? My page views skyrocket every time I bring up one of these topics. People are reading the discussion and coming back more than once throughout the day to do so. Not everyone may be commenting, but lots of people are reading.
I am glad you bring these things up on your blog, Sallie. I come back. . . I am interested in what others think. If someone disagrees and has a good point, I’m willing to read/listen to it. There needs to be dialogue.
I’m glad you post these topics on your blog too. I think what makes your blog, or any blog, worth reading, is a strong voice. You could post a recipe if you felt like it (and who doesn’t love recipes!), but if what is on your mind that day is the financial collapse, then that is where your voice should go.
That video is scary.
Why aren’t we rioting? I agree, because we are all too busy trying to make ends meet. Because we think it is useless. And my personal opinion, half of America right now thinks Obama is going to solve every problem that ever was. “So let’s just give him some time.”
