One of the best investments we’ve made in toys for Caroline has been Tinker Toys. We bought the first big barrel of them when she was probably two and a half. (We bought the girly pink and purple ones at Toys R Us because I knew she would love the colors.) We quickly realized that there weren’t enough there to do projects of the scale she and David wanted to do. (David thought about becoming an architect instead of a graphic designer so he’s always been interested in building and designing.)
So we bought a second big barrel. And then, yes, a third. Honestly, I think we could still buy one more big barrel for them to use, but it’s not in the budget right now.
Caroline has learned so much over the past three and a half years of building things with David. At first she really couldn’t do much except tell David what she wanted him to make and then watch. But now she can create so much on her own. She’s learned how all of the different pieces function, how to problem solve, etc. They have been a great learning tool!
