100 Books From Our New Home Library

When we did our cozy home remodel, we changed our learning room into a library. In my dream home, I would have a large library filled with built-in bookshelves from floor to ceiling. Instead, we have several places where we keep our books including what you see below.

Home Library and Couch

Because our book space is limited, we’ve had to be ruthless in keeping our book total to reasonable levels.

We’ve weeded through our books continuously over the years so what is left is the best of the best.

Home Library Bookcases

Here’s a look at what we have in our library. Since the majority of the books are mine, my interests clearly shine through.

Home Library Sections

Here is the overflow in the dining area. Not shown in these photos are the books in the office, Caroline’s room, or the bookscases in the basement. We have lots of books still, but there is no way to get them all in the actual library area. Our office has most of my simple living books, homeschooling books, and more theology books. Caroline has many books in her room. We have four large bookcases in the basement with theology, crafts, history, more children’s books, DIY, and all my Grace Livingston Hill paperbacks.

Overflow Home Library in Dining Room

Here is how these shelves are organized.

I thought it would be fun to share some favorites from each section. You’ll notice I’m neither a trendy reader nor an intellectual out to impress anyone with my reading list. I tend to gravitate toward topics that deeply interest me. I rarely read things for “everyone should read this” type reasons.

Please note: In some cases, I have written an entire post about a series of books or type of book. In that case, I will link to the post rather than Amazon. In my website header, the drop down menu choice of “Books” will lead you to many of the book posts I have written.

Did you watch the “Christy” TV show that was on during the 90s on CBS? It was really good. I was so sad they cancelled it.

The later ones were horrible though. Ugh.

This is the series on DVD if anyone reading this isn’t familiar with it.
