If you didn't watch this with your children, you really should. D Day came up during our history time and I mentioned this video to Caroline. (I had already watched it.) She asked to see it and watched the entire thing with me while barely getting restless (27 minutes). It's a compelling speech to keep a twelve year old focused for that long.

I was also pleased that the President spoke on many of the themes that we've been discussing in our history lessons (liberty, self-government, etc.) Things like this make our children feel more connected to the big conversations when they can see the things they are reading and discussing in their homeschooling are also part of the bigger world. (It probably also reinforces in their eyes that maybe we homeschooling moms really do know what we're doing with them. LOL!)
