This is an interesting development. From all I have observed, Dr. Birx is a numbers person and totally into data. She is not going to allow the CDC or anyone else to destroy her long career and reputation.
More and more doctors are saying they feel pressure to put COVID-19 as a cause of death. I do believe the numbers are being inflated.

I guess this sounds contradictory when she says she doesn't trust the CDC, but said the same thing they are in a press conference....Doesn't make sense to me....

That is what is so troubling about all this. I'm not finding much out there that I trust other than some people I follow who also look at everything and share their opinions.

This is not at ALL what Dr. Fauci has been saying for literally months. He's been out there saying just the opposite.
I've wondered about Dr. Fauci ever since he said in one of the daily task force briefings many weeks ago that Dr. Tedros of the WHO is a good friend of his. That made my antenna go up so quickly it nearly flew out of my head. That Dr. Tedros is a bad actor in many ways. That rather off-handed comment made me question Dr. Fauci's commitment to what is best for the USA as opposed to his broader loyalty elsewhere.
Now this backtracking? I wonder if he is starting to feel the heat that people followed his word closely and we're going to suffer some serious consequences in every other part of our national life because of it (financially, mental health, other health issues that have gone unaddressed for months, etc.). For the most part, President Trump deferred to Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx. They are going to have to own the advice they gave to him and the rest of the task force.

Yes, I agree with what you have said about Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx. I know President Trump is a smart man although I don't agree with some of his policies or how he talks sometimes. But sometimes I wonder what is really going on here.... My flag went up with Dr. Fauci when a few weeks ago Trump announced with was doing away with the coronavirus task force for an economic task force. The next day he backtracked (which he has done before) and said he was going to keep the coronavirus task force. Now I know there is a separate economic task force, but for some reason it did not sit easy with me when Trump backtracked so quickly. I couldn't really say why I was uneasy, but was and automatically came to mind if Dr. Fauci had something to do with it? Obviously, I have not facts to base this on, just uneasiness. Since then I have noticed how often Dr. Fauci contradicts himself in what he says, so soon you don't know what to believe. Unfortunately, for the people of this country, what he says is affecting them as well as the data that is not real. So, because of this, I don't watch White House briefings when these two doctors are involved anymore...
I am wondering if we can discuss contact tracing on this forum. It is a controversial topic. It is also scary what the governments and health departments are doing in making decisions on this with little to no oversight. There is also HR6666 in the US House which has a lot of holes and opens the door to some big issues and possible scary stuff.. I know they have started hiring for contact tracers in my state which has opened up big concerns on privacy issues etc.

Here is a video on Contact Tracing. This is happening in alot of states including mine in CO. The person in this video went through a Contact Tracing training in CA. Although some things in this video may be somewhat different in other states, it is important to be aware of and to contact elected leaders and do research to find out what is going on in your state. Non-elected leaders such as the health department are being strongly encouraged by mayors and governors in some states. There are many issues with this including that the tests are not completely reliable and privacy issues. The CDC and US Government is encouraging this as well.

Unfortunately, my husband works for a large university and at this point, they are saying that to go back to campus, he will have to sign a pledge to have the covid vaccine when it arrives, as well as yearly flu vaccines (what does this have to do with covid?!?!), as well as install a tracking app on his phone. We are not pleased and we are hoping that when the faculty get wind, they will make enough of a stink to have this rescinded. I am not optimistic though, because the academia tend to be fairly liberal and they have bought into the fear mongering of the media on this subject.
