Reading The Babylon Bee is becoming way too much like reality.

Woke Christian Asks Jesus To Return All The Shame He Took Away

Sources are reporting a concerning shortage of shame in the days leading up to a scheduled “lament for racial justice” event at Spirit Justice Awareness in the City Church in Philadelphia. Christians who attend the church are praying for God to return at least some of the shame he took from them at the point of salvation so they can lament appropriately at the upcoming event.

“I have so much to feel shame for,” said Mavrin Frudwrinkles, a local member of the church. “I’m white, I live in a system of white supremacy, I have been guilty of being colorblind, I benefit from privilege, the list goes on,” he lamented while crying a single tear. “Why did I let God take away my guilt and shame when guilt and shame are so necessary to achieve racial utopia and class equity according to my pastor?”

Frudwrinkles then bowed his head and prayed: “Please God, please stop contributing to this invisible system of oppression and give me my shame back so I can start to deal with my internalized racism and white fragility.”

Here is an email blast I received from a local ministry:

“The key to moving forward is what we do with our discomfort.”

—Robin Diangelo

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

I welcome you, discomfort.
I welcome you, anger.
I welcome you, sadness.
Teach me. What do you want to show me?

(Wait. Listen. Linger.)

I let go of my desire for security—and my fatigue in risk-taking.
I let go of my desire for approval—to be seen as “woke,” important, and wise.
I let go of my desire for control—and my check boxes for doing good.
I let go of my desire to rid myself of this discomfort too quickly.

I open myself to the loving presence of God.
I open myself to the Spirit’s correction, grace, and guidance.
I open myself to the diverse human family.
I open myself to becoming a life-long learner.

Amen.

Robin Diangelo, “White Fragility” (Beacon Press, 2018. Loc. 442). This welcoming praying Adapted from Kelly Aalseth “A Prayer for Lingering in Racial Discomfort,” which in turn was adapted from Mary Mrozowski.

Here is my response:

I want to be respectful to this....but does your ministry realize you are promoting a toxic book that does not line up with scripture?  The fact that a quote is on your email blast from White Fragility and listing the book makes me question what you are promoting with this ministry. The book promotes doing penance as one can never “atone” for one’s whiteness.  There is no forgiveness toward one another in what this book promotes. We are the skin color God have us.  That cannot be changed.  But how our character and love for Jesus drives how we respond to others of all races.  This book pushes an agenda that does not align with the Lord and scripture at all.

I am greatly concerned that you are promoting this book as this dangerously is permeating ministries and churches and is extremely divisive and far from being of God.  Please thoroughly do your research on this book and Critical Race Theory with prayers and direction.  I pray that you will seek God and the Holy Spirit and move forward only with the Spirits leading and discernment.

I cannot with good conscience support a ministry that in any way supports this book and Critical Race Theory if that is the direction this ministry is going.  I pray that you will seek a direction that aligns with God and scripture.

Their response:

Thank you, Kristine, for taking the time to write and to share your concerns. We share a desire to follow Jesus and to be led by him into loving engagement with the concerns of our world, including the struggle to heal our nation from racism. It sounds as though we each are learning from different resources, and then – I’m sure – prayerfully reflecting on what we learn and doing our best to practice these things in our life. I’m so thankful for the guidance of God’s Spirit as we wrestle with such pressing and difficult matters.

His response in learning from different resources?  Obviously!  What happened to lining a book up with scripture?  Yes, the satire above is way too close to reality....

@kris

This is really sad. I am planning on doing a video on what to do when your church goes woke. I need to remember to include how to respond to ministries as well. I think you handled it well.

So sad. So so sad.

Christian Colleges and seminaries needed to be added to the video as well as they are all part of the church.  Unfortunately, they are bowing down to the "woke" mob as well....
