Discover The Ladybug Girl Books

Have you discovered the Ladybug Girl books? Somehow Caroline and I missed this series up to this point, but we were delighted to read through them now. An imaginative little girl with her dog sidekick? Right up Caroline’s story alley! I received a full set of the hardcover editions to review so let’s check them out.

Ladybug Girl

Lulu is Ladybug Girl. She’s a super hero who goes on adventures while learning important life lessons along the way. At her side is her basset hound, Bingo.

This week the original book was released in the Ladybug Girl: The Super Fun Edition. It includes not only the original book, but also some extras!

Ladybug Girl Gift Edition Cover

The dust jacket is a very thick cover because it is a large poster!

In the back of the book, there is a set of paper dolls and two pages of clothing and accessories for dressing up both Lulu and Bingo.

I had the opportunity to read all of the hardcover books and select the two I wanted to include in the giveaway (now over) in addition to the new Gift Edition. I chose Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy and Ladybug Girl and the Best Ever Playdate. I thought they were stories that would hold universal appeal as they deal with the themes of friendship and compromise as well as the value of friendship.

We also read:

  • Ladybug Girl and Bingo (a story about responsibility)
  • Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad (a story about empathy)
  • Ladybug Girl at the Beach (a book about being brave)
  • Ladybug Girl and the Dress-up Dilemma (a story about being true to yourself)
  • Ladybug Girl and the Big Snow (a story about looking on the bright side)

These would make a lovely Christmas gift or birthday gift for a lucky little girl!

I first saw these books at the library few years ago when my son was probably 4 years old. He enjoyed reading them; especially the one with Bumblebee Boy! Well, now he’s 7, and has a 3 year old sister who would also enjoy these stories!

This is a FABULOUS series of books. The author has done a great job of developing a young child character with young child thoughts. It’s refreshing to read about kids who play on their own and create their own play. I hope there will be many more in this series.

Fifteen years ago, we probably would have owned every single one of these books, as our youngest daughter was infatuated with everything “ladybug”. But since she is now a sophomore in college, this is the first time I have heard of “Ladybug Girl”. Amy would have loved them, I’m sure, but now we have granddaughters who will enjoy these books. Thank you for sharing the information and for the giveaway.
