Preparing for my parents
Hi Sallie! I am asking you, because you are so informative and because you have mentioned you have a retirement website (?). My parents are elderly and are rapidly needing more and more care. They are local to me, having moved to my town from out of state after they retired because their first grandchild was on the way (our daughter). My younger brother is happy to do what he can, but he lives in NJ with his family, leaving me to do day to day and hands-on care (which I am more than happy to do).
We have prepared for the future as far as a will and power of attorney. I am now trying to put together a "household binder" for them that will have everything I need close at hand. I would like to include medical, financial, insurance, etc. Do you have anything that would simplify this process for me as far as making sure I get all the information I might need? I would love to have some sort of checklist that I could start at the top and complete in an organized manor, instead of just trying to remember to look for things as I think of them. 🙂
Eventually, after getting them all organized, I would like to do the same for my household. I'm afraid that if something were to happen to me, my husband would have no idea where to start!
If this is not your bailiwick, would you have any recommendations for where I might find something like this? Thank you so much for the work you have put into everything here! I am so thankful to you!
That's a really great question. I don't have anything created or written about this topic at this point. But I am going to jot that down and think about how I might work that in. I do have a topic planned for special situations (pets, elderly, dependencies and addictions) and this might work well with the elderly portion.
