Has anyone ever used The Great Courses?
We received a big shiny catalog offering us a special deal on these courses. I looked through them and there are quite a few that could be helpful. Caroline likes to learn via video so I'm considering them.
Has anyone used these? Which courses did you purchase? What did you think of them? Did you buy the Instant Video or the DVD?

We have been purchasing The Great Courses. I only purchase when I receive the lowest price and free shipping about twice a year.
These are for supplimenting our learning. We've enjoyed them. The presentations are really well done by the professors, the camera work and graphics is good in most. There is a lot of information on each on and I would place this learning about grade 10 and higher. You can purchase to stream on line. The format is basically the same as the dvd, so you'll be able to "try before you buy". Also online you can see that people are rating and commenting. As you know, world view plays a big part in the presentations and comments 😆
p.s. I'm missing a log in button on the main forum page. When I clicked on "adding a new topic" my login popped up.
Hi Sallie -
We haven't used those, but I have seen the catalog. I thought of this post though when someone on one of my homeschool FB groups asked about them. That person got many responses to try their local public library. Also mentioned was that some libraries offer the Hoopla app that has several of the courses available. I quickly checked our local library (that, frankly, stinks and offers next to nothing) and they did have a few courses listed. Might be worth a try to see if Caroline likes them before investing!
