“Virtually ignoring their initial question, He said nothing whatsoever about when the destruction of Jerusalem would occur.” Nothing whatsoever? MacArthur (or whoever edited this book) had to say this because to admit that Jesus was describing what was going to happen to the temple that was standing there—“not one stone here shall be left upon another” (24:3)—would mean Jesus had a great deal to say “about when the destruction of Jerusalem would occur.” It would occur before that existing generation passed away (24:34).

The idea that there needs to be another physical temple and sacrifices of red heifers is not supported by the Bible. It is contrary to it.

Here’s the important part of how the sacrifice of the red heifer points to Jesus: It is the only sacrifice that took place “outside the camp” (Num. 19:3, 9). Like the red heifer, Jesus was slain “outside the gate” (Heb. 13:12), that is, “outside the camp” (13:13).

Given the fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of all the sacrifices required under the Old Covenant, there is no need for a red heifer sacrifice today. For any Christian to suggest that there is significance to a red heifer today is to deny the “it is finished” (John 19:30) sacrifice of Jesus and the purpose of the book of Hebrews. Jews who want to revive the red heifer ordinance are no different from Jews who rejected Jesus as the once-for-all sacrifice fulfillment of all the types under the Old Covenant.

What about the argument that the red heifer sacrifice is to be “a lasting ordinance both for the Israelites and for the aliens living among them” and “a perpetual statute”? (Num. 19:10, 21). It’s obvious that it hasn’t been for nearly 2000 years. That’s because the perpetuity of the red heifer sacrifice (like all the sacrifices) was fulfilled in Jesus, as the book of Hebrews states.

Christianity's Great Dilemma by Glenn L. Hill has the subtitle "Is Jesus Coming Again or Is He Not?" That's a great summary of what this book tackles.

Hill systematically goes through all of the Scriptures related to the last things. Here is the outline of the book.

What a Dilemma Christianity Has on It's Hands!

In the Gospels When Did Jesus Say He Was Coming?

In the Revelation When Did Jesus Say He Was Coming?

The Last Days

The End of the World

The Judgement

When Did the Apostles Say Jesus Was Coming?

When Did Other Early Church Leaders Say Jesus Was Coming?

When does the Bible Say the Coming of Jesus Was Imminent?

The book is very easy to understand. This is not complicated theology. It is challenging, however, because it will make you uncomfortable if you hold to a futurist view.

The one criticism I've seen is that the book is repetitive and contains too many caps and exclamation points. Those criticisms are valid. However, it doesn't take away from the profoundness of what is written.

These are very real objections to Christianity that we should be prepared to answer.

What the Bible says about these things is pretty straightforward if you take them at face value as the disciples did. But that requires us to look at all of these passages as they would have understood them in their day with their worldview and mindset. That takes effort.

I also wrote about this book in the post What is The Judgement in the Bible?

So many people are waiting to get raptured out and escape this world rather than understanding God has given them a mission to build and expand His Kingdom.

If there is no rapture, what then?

I'll tell you what.

There is another group that is more than willing to put their faith into action in this country.

And we won't like the results that we are forced to live under.

The Euphrates River often comes up related to the "end times."

In this post, I provided a different interpretation compared to what is popularly taught: Recapitulation in Revelation – Seals, Trumpets, and Chalices. Here is the mention.

The Sixth Chalice (The Euphrates and the Kings of the East) The drying up of the Euphrates River is historically interpreted as the removal of barriers for the Roman legions to approach Jerusalem. The “kings of the east” refers to the Roman generals, particularly Vespasian and Titus, who led the forces that marched from the East (Syria/Asia Minor) to lay siege to the holy city.

In the video below, Shelly goes through it in more detail.

There are many solid explanations for this passage in Revelation that don't require helicopters and the like. Explanations that make perfect sense for the original recipients of the letter - "the seven churches which are in Asia" (Revelation 1:4)
