Calvinism denies the reality of this. If you can't know if you are truly saved unless you persevere to the end, then how can you know you have the Spirit of God living in you?

You can't.

The same Calvinists who "hope" they are saved and say so openly, can also only "hope" they have the Holy Spirit living in them.

This is not what the Bible teaches.

Dig into the Word and see what God tells us about the Holy Spirit in the life of His child.

We voted for this. Every one of those squares represents a job, a house, a classroom seat, an appointment at the doctor's office, etc. that is freed up for an American citizen.

Now multiply this across 50 states. And add in the ones who still need to go back. And all the people working in this country on visas who don't need to be here.

Eternal Security and a License to Sin

A good word on an objection to eternal security that doesn't hold up.

I will not give up grace merely because carnal men abuse grace. Nor will I give up eternal security because carnal men exploit it and use it as a license to sin.

The fact is, men use Arminianism as a license for sin too. They don't have to repent today because they can always repent tomorrow.

In forty-five years of experience, I have observed that eternal security gives men better ground for gaining victory over sin and going to higher ground. They don't get discouraged and give up.

MacArthur (or whoever edited this book) had to say this because to admit that Jesus was describing what was going to happen to the temple that was standing there—“not one stone here shall be left upon another” (24:3)—would mean Jesus had a great deal to say “about when the destruction of Jerusalem would occur.” It would occur before that existing generation passed away (24:34).
