A fresh new start!
Welcome to my new home on the web!
I’m still adding things so the site is far from finished, but I decided it was put together enough to invite my online friends to come on over. (My next ebook is on overcoming perfectionism and I’m practicing what I preach!) But overall I’m loving the fresh, new feel.
I’ve pre-loaded the site with some new entries so there is hopefully a little something for everyone. I’m going to continue to move over a few select posts from the old site over the next month or so.
If you enjoyed the Link-o-ramas on my old site, you’ll want to check out the et cetera posts. I’m hoping to do an et cetera post most days. We’ll see how things develop.
I had to laugh at myself when I finally decided that I was going to use my name for the domain. I had written a few months ago about how much I hated the thought of branding myself. I resisted it for a very long time. But the reality is that if you are a writer, your name is your brand. There’s really no way to get around it.
I’ve added a Twitter account as an experiment. I’m curious about it.
I will not be adding Facebook so if you follow me from Facebook you will either need to subscribe in a feed, by email, or bookmark the site and stop by. I experimented with Facebook at my previous site and have decided I’m not interested in continuing to use it. I would have to sign up for a personal account now that my site uses my name and I’m simply not willing to do that. I debated long and hard, read a lot online, and I just find the whole thing not to my liking.
Regarding both Twitter and Facebook… I don’t like having my information stored somewhere else. For example, there were links I shared on Facebook and not my site. Now when I delete my Facebook account I will lose all those links unless I take the time to go back and link to them here. I prefer to control my own content and not be dependent on any one else. But I’m kind of a libertarian independent-spirit in that way.
I’m also desiring to make this a more male-friendly place. My other sites have always been decidedly female in both appearance and content. I’m hoping to engage both men and women here, especially as it relates to women in the church. Time will tell if that will happen, but I do hope more men will stop by. Men and women together reflect the image of God and I hope to see that more fully reflected here in the future.
So please take a look around and enjoy. Everyone has to be moderated when they leave their first comment so if you leave one and it doesn’t show up right away… that’s why.
Welcome!

It’s a lovely website. Best wishes on it and congrats!
I think you will like Twitter. It’s not at all like Facebook, since there is no presumption of privacy on it, if that makes sense.
Wow Sallie! That was so quick! I’m very much looking forward to reading th new content. More discussion of the sort you’ve always encouraged will be wonderful. Some of my friends in their 20s have linked their twitter and facebook feeds. I don’t know how, and I’m not sure it would be possible with this situation, but often their twitter names are different from their Facebook names.
Well, it’s a snow day, so i’m off to read the rest of those new posts.
Heidi
Thanks! I really like the new look and layout. Part of the reason we were able to get it done so quickly is we found a template that I liked almost exactly as it was. So it was just a matter of loading the content. And with WordPress adding so many widget functions, it makes it so much easier to get a site up and running.
I wondered where you were! Nice place.
I look forward to checking out your pre-loaded posts…
I laughed when I first saw your new domain name, because it seemed so…final. You do have a talent for reinventing your online presence. I’m glad you were able to get your new site up so quickly and easily.
Peggy – That’s funny. Yes, I guess going to my name might be kind of final. I hadn’t thought about it that way. I’m one of those people who likes to constantly move the furniture around too.
